Senior Expereince
These are some of my kids from Senior Experience, that i also worked with that graduated last year from the pre-school and are now in kindergarten.
About Me!
Hello, my name is Melissa Winslow and I am currently a freshman at Rider University. I am double majoring in Secondary Education and History. I have always dreamed of being a teacher and now my dreams are coming true. Right now I am taking on my general studies classes and next year I will start taking classes for my major.
I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I can remember. I started baby-sitting for family friends at the age of 12. I lean red from those experiences how to be patient with kids and that you really need to think of things to keep them entertained so they are not all over the place. When I was 15 years old I started working at Sesame Place where I also worked around children. My job there was more focused on keeping the customers happy by providing them fast service. I think they best thing I received out of this job was I learned how to work with others and also communicate with people well. When i turned 16 I started working at Rita's Water Ice which was a great experience! I had the opportunity to work with kids which also communicating with their parents. I could joke with the kids and have fun with them. Now I am currently working at The Children's Center and Pre-school as a teacher's aid in the 4-5 year old class. I love working with the kids. I make projects and teach them certain lessons (like their left from their right), dance with them at circle and play with them until their parents pick them up. I have been working at my current job for about a year and a half and once you have worked there that long you really grow attached to the children and it is amazing to see just how much of an impact that you have on them.
Now at Rider, I am currently taking classes that will help me to become the teacher that I wish to be. I have taken a number of valuable courses such as Speech Communication, Introduction to Psychology, History, History II, American Politics, Spanish II and Expository Writing, In the fall, I plan to take five courses: Sociology Imagination, Women in American History, Res each Writing, Art and Society and American Philosophy. I am also taking two courses over the summer at Mercer County Community College. I plan to study all four years at Rider University and expect to graduate with my degree in 2011.
